Students in Honors English are writing sonnets and will be sharing them with us. Today, we will read one by Pili Solís Meza:

In Shadows Cast by Prejudice, They Bloom

In shadows cast by prejudice, they bloom,
Stereotypes, a canvas painted wide
Defined by ignorance, we often hide
Prejudice enfolds in the total gloom.

Yet the truth emerges, seeking to assume
Just a role more, where judgements set aside,
For every soul, unique and dignified,
Defying labels that look to consume.

Oh, let us break the chains of false belief,
Embrace diversity, let wisdom rise,
For in each heart, a story, pure and brief.

No rigid form should tie forever-wise,
As petals fall, let understanding win
A tapestry of unity, we prize.
