In AP English class, 11th Grade students wrote poems. Today we share the poem written by Mari Vittorietti.

Congratulations!

Educational prison

Relentlessly tired,
due to the educational prison.
Relentlessly anxious,
due to the educational prison.

Still loyal,
despite the educational prison.
Still persistent,
despite the educational prison.

I’m pent up in a cell,
just like my mind,
which is locked under the influence,
of the kind jailers that lecture to me.

I know that education is the best for me,
but there are things I cannot see.
I’m wishing for things that I cannot meet;
I’m wishing for someone who sets me free.

School is a prison,
in which I’m sentenced eighteen years to be.
At least my cell isn’t empty,
I have 19 inmates that accompany me.
