My Baby No More (Patrarchan Sonnet)
Oh my baby, peaceful while being rocked,
Only carried in my arms, held so near
To my heart, every beat erased my fear.
Oh my baby, just how fast is the clock.
I blinked once, and suddenly you walked,
Every step you took always made me cheer,
Although, for every chant, there was a tear.
I blinked twice, and I heard my baby talk,
Little did I know, this was just the start.
Feeling in denial, never thought you might
Grow higher, and older, also apart.
My baby has grown, I will cry despite,
He’ll become a man, a child still by heart.
Oh her baby, in his older sister’s sight.
